On October 12, 2005, Judy Shepard, mother of hate crime victim Matthew Shepard, appeared on HRC's weekly address. She called for the United States Senate to pass the hate crimes legislation passed by the House of Representatives earlier this fall. If the Senate passes the bill, it would then head to the President for approval. The Senate has twice passed similar legislation and should pass it again.
