The Church is punishing love?

According to an article published by the BBC, an Anglican priest will face disciplinary action for disobeying a Church directive saying gay priests could not participate in the UK's new civil partnerships. The Rev Christopher Wardale, 59, and Malcolm Macourt, 58, exchanged vows in Newcastle. A religious service was held witht he former Bishop of Durham, Rev David Jenkins, preaching. ===== Since when does the Church punish love? Heck, they knew he was gay, they knew he had a partner. The only difference now is that the two men's love for each other is registered on a government record. I just don't get it. The Church has punished love.
