LAPD will sponsor 'Gay Games'

According to an article published by the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Police Department will become the first major law enforcement agency to sponsor the Gay Games, set to take place next July in Chicago. The LAPD will allow officers to march in uniform during the opening ceremony of the games. About 12 officers will be marching. Gay Games VII will take place July 15 to July 22, 2006. The event is of an olympic-style is for LGBT athletes. The LAPD has also said that it will be recruiting during the games.
