Gay teen movie just the 'Thing' for U.S. release Mon Jan 9, 2006 12:11 AM ET By Gregg Goldstein NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Indie distributor Picture This Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to the gay-themed Canadian comedic drama "Whole New Thing." The film will have a limited release in theaters in the fall. The story centers on a 13-year-old boy (Aaron Webber) who, after years of home teaching by hippie parents, is sent to a local school. The precocious youth soon develops a crush on his promiscuous gay English teacher (Daniel MacIvor), leading to various complications for them and the student's family. The project marks the second feature from director Amnon Buchbinder ("The Fishing Trip"), who co-wrote the script with MacIvor. Reuters/Hollywood Reporter===== I can already hear the radical Right screaming and crying foul now. I can just hear them saying something about pedophilia and the "predatory actions" of gay men and the "recruitment" of teens to homosexuality. Now... I have no idea what all is in this new movie, and well, neither does the Right. So I think everybody should just stay calm and wait to see what it is all about before jumping to conclusions (like they did with NBC's "The Book of Daniel").
